If your company provides multiple services, you need to register two usernames on this site, and have each of them pay for different options. Thank you for your understanding. We do not want small firms pay the same amount as a full service large firm.
Why isn’t working for commission enough for Amasia?
We understand that many international designers/small firms do not have the budget to pay for our service in advance. And they do not understand why Amasia asks to be compensated regardless of the status of the project.
Amasia offers services not typical of most agents doing this kind of PR and coordination projects in their own country. Because of the different cultures and two languages, Amasia has to make a much bigger commitment to the project in advance than is typical of most PR and project-coordination firms.
Many Chinese clients and international designers learn how to cooperate together by working with Amasia. In China we provide the necessary translation as well hosting, handling conference calls, and, in general, smoothing the way toward effective cooperation between designer and client. We also aid the designer in learning the local codes and culture—indispensable information for working together.
In one’s own country the PR firms/agents can wait to get their fee at the end of the project because they do not need to translate, provide advice, act as go-between’s. But that’s not the case here. We are critical to your success in China!
- So if we can focus on a few design firms, we will be able to provide more custom services to you. In this kind of retainer-type arrangement, your financial outlay will yield more profit in the long run. For the most part, Amasia only recommends paid members to our Chinese clients. Amasia has a very successful website in the Chinese language. We have constant calls from all over China asking for recommendations of designers/architects. We will provide such information through this website. All registered users can see it but only paid members can get the contact information and translated job description, as well as the original plans from the client.
- We will instruct the paid members how to prepare a proposal that is appealing to the Chinese client, practical and competitive. For those who are not yet experienced working in China, this is valuable support. For such services as translating your presentation, handling conference calls with the client, and translating your proposal, we charge a flat rate of $50/hour.
- Once you submit a proposal to a potential client, and the client is interested and wants to talk in more detail, we will work as your Chinese in-house translator to help you to get this job. If you only need is our translation services, we normally bill our clients monthly in a fixed amount. If you are new to working in China and would like to form a joint venture with us to proceed, we can be very helpful as we have local designer/vendors all over China supporting our work.
- If you want us to guide you through the process but not in a format of a joint venture, then you can pay us a commission. We will let you know how much the commission is on a job-by-job basis.
- If your company is a full service design firm, you may need to register more than one user on this site. In this situation, each user must have a separate membership.
Why do you post your jobs online, rather than send them directly to the designers working with you?
- One of the reasons we want to post all our job opportunities online is that we prefer to let designers choose whichever projects to pursue, rather than have Amasia make a decision about whom to recommend to the clients. Amasia is talking to so many designers in so many different categories (interior, architecture, landscape, planning, hospitality, commercial, residential, institutional); we are not necessarily knowledgeable enough to make the right judgement in every situation. The designer makes the proposal decision; Amasia supports the process in multiple ways. There are enough obstacles for international designers to enter the China market; we do not want to become another obstacle. In the future we plan to modify this site to make it easier for designers and clients to speak directly to each other. For now, we recommend that you sign yourself up so that potential clients who read English may find you this way. You can decide to become a paid member or not later.
- Please be aware that Amasia is the only agency in the world so far which introduces international designers to China. The opportunities are enormous. Do not waste your time, signing up on this site will costs much less than hiring a marketing manager for China or paying for a flight.
Why you should work with Amasia
China’s booming economy and construction need more and more international designers /architects /planners, and most western design firms want to get into the China market. Amasia has built a bridge for them to reach each other. Although this bridge is still relatively new, it is being reinforced every day.
Amasia Marketing Consultants currently represent international design firms in different categories: architecture, interior design, planning, landscape architecture, residential, commercial, hospitality, and institutional. We typically pick a few in each of these different categories to work with. However, in the near future, this website is going to change. We will gradually put more and more focus on the members of this site, rather than the design firms we currently represent. This change will reflect our new policy of working directly with members. Rather than waiting for our first fees at the end of a project, the membership fee will work like a retainer providing Amasia with revenue up front This decision is also a hedge against the situation in which some Chinese clients try to get around us to contact the architects/designers directly even though we have done the initial work of finding and matching them with the designer. Amasia has grown into a firm without major competitors in China, which allows us to choose the right business partners to work with.
Right now we serve as head hunters, translators, and business development professionals (familiar internet marketing and social networking tools), as well as a team of facilitators and consultants.
History of Amasia and Julian Luo’s Story
Amasia is based in Guangdong Province, China. Most of us work in Shenzhen and Zhongshan City. My name is Julian Luo, the owner of this company. Previously I worked in a design firm in California, saw the need for such a bridge between western designers and Chinese clients, and decided to come back to China and establish this company. Since we are the first company in this field, and probably still the only major one, Amasia has built a solid reputation among Chinese developers. We regularly receive calls from them asking us to recommend architects and designers.

Julian Luo in North Carolina 2008
I am planning to relocate to NYC with his partner, and looking for a New York based design firm, architecture design or interior design, to form a China division. If you are interested in this idea, please contact me at julian[at]amasia-group.com.
This website looks rather different and simple
Yes I know you may wonder why our website looks simple, well we are an agency, this is not a design magazine or a design firm’s website. We show up our designers, not ourselves. The clients only care what the designer’s websites look like, not ours. The clients also care what we say about the designers, they trust our judgment. But we are a lot more skilled than most of you in terms of website design and internet marketing. In this world what really matters is what your website looks like in Google’s eyes, not your eyes or your potential client’s eyes. Google likes what Amasia.us likes, something simple and fast. So yes if we work together, we will make sure Google and other search engines like your website, or our blogs introducing your abilities, and recommend your website/blogs to potential Chinese clients. That’s the key.
Meanwhile, our primary websites are all in Chinese, it’s like a design magazine, informative and being constantly updated. We are internet marketing experts, we know the key is the content and SEO, not the look of a site. That’s why we have so many clients and why we become the no.1 agency in China. Becoming a member of this site you will take full advantage of our resources and experience. You will be automatically notified whenever there is a job opportunity for your firm since you paid us a retainer. We are obligated to do so and we are happy to do so to encourage more designers paying us a retainer. We are not obligated to pay other design firms who we represent but are not a member yet. There is a risk of introducing them to the client because we may end up losing money, but recommending our members, our time will be basically compensated because of the member fee.
Do I have to pay the membership fee/head-hunting fee to work with you, otherwise you wouldn’t represent us?
Amasia has a preferred designer list, including:
Members who pay us a monthly fee described above + World famous designers/architects like one of the AD100 + Designers who have worked with Amasia before and the client likes their design + Architects/design firms who are well established in China and easy to work with
Among them, we always contact the members first, then the rest of preferred designers.
If you are very famous then we might invite you to design and you do not need to be a member.
If you are none of the above, then we will only forward your brochure to a potential client when we cannot find a qualified designer among our preferred designer list.
However, Amasia is restructuring our Chinese websites which have been bringing all the job opportunities to us and very popular in China. We will let the Chinese clients be able to search all our preferred designers and decide who to talk to. If you cannot afford to hire us to represent you at this moment, maybe you can consider to have your profile searchable in our Chinese website. Here is the fee structure:
$50/mo. > Silver
$80/mo. > Gold
Note that the messages sent to you from our website by those potential Chinese clients maybe all in Chinese. Amasia will charge extra fee for translation service.
Send us an email at marketing[at]amasia-group.com if you are interested in this idea, we are still working on the site and will show you how to start once we are ready. The Chinese website will be in both language and similar to match.com.
If you are a paid member of Amasia then this is included already.
After that if the client chooses you, then you can decide to be a paid member to have our full support/facilitation/guidance.
